Thank God a bug never flew in
In a nutshell

I'm Jake, an experienced designer/illustrator and hand-letterer from Cape Town, based in Bristol. For over fourteen years I've worked with many agencies, studios and startups (mostly in London) across various industries such as advertising, entertainment, technology, food, travel, charity and sports.

Through various creative roles and a diverse range of projects I’ve enjoyed finding different ways to create work which inspires and connects a business or brand to an audience.

I’m particularly excited about working on visual brand identities combining design, illustration and hand-rendered typography.

When away from the desk I enjoy the wrath of nature as a mountain runner, gravel cyclist and occasional climber.

Side projects

Paper Trails is an online app my brother Adam and I launched in 2019 and currently run. It allows people to create and purchase customised prints of their outdoor activities (running, cycling, hiking, etc.), either by connecting Strava or uploading a GPX file. It's been received very well by the outdoor community.

About the site
I patiently built this site using CSS/HTML because my brother Adam's always booked up. Fonts used are Apercu by Colophon.

Thanks for stopping by! 👋
