For 25 years, Mr. Chris Brewer (call him Chris) and his team have been the go-to guys for information exchange between many advertising and marketing organisations in South Africa. Due to their trustworthy nature and accurate data they are simply unrivalled. Not to mention the fact that Chris enjoys a good Scotch with his clients.
Various delivery formats were used over the years, ranging from printed almanacs (the well known Brewer’s Almanac) to desktop software. The obvious move to a purely online service required a complete overhaul of the branding, design, application functionality and user experience.
Reliability, clarity and trust. The new branding and design direction reflects these values by making use of strong typography, imagery and a simple yet sturdy ‘B’ mark. Based in Cape Town, bright colours which reflected the environment were used.
Based on the sheer amount of quality information, my brother Adam, the web developer and I created a smoother user experience consisting of fast, intuitive searching — the applications’ core function. This began with a mobile-first approach, expanding areas as the tablet and desktop versions were developed. This enabled us to nail the primary functionality without the distraction of extra screen space.
